As you recall from the Week Two assignment, the scholarly literature has explored various elements of your social issue through theoretical frameworks and research studies. You will now extend your analysis to include examples of best practices that serve as the benchmark used by health and human service organizations in the provision of care. Best practices consist of techniques, applications, or approaches that have been consistently demonstrated through the research to be the most effective for addressing a given problem or need area.
In this third written assignment for the course, you will apply your knowledge of U.S. health and human services delivery of care by examining scholarly sources (e.g., articles from the Ashford University Library, government sources, etc.) that provide information on best practices that examine some aspect of your social issue. Thus, you will be asked to do the following:

· Educational initiatives
· Analyze elements pertinent to the best practices that you have identified. These include:
· An overview of each practice (i.e., what they are, specific elements, how and where they are used, etc.).
· Examination of evidence in the form of research studies that support the effectiveness of the practices (i.e., description of study, methods, and findings).
· Evaluation of their strengths and areas for improvement.
· Lastly, provide a brief (no more than one page) proposal for a model intervention (i.e., program, service, or initiative) that you would like to develop that incorporates one of your selected best practice methods. This intervention must be unique and original. Do not propose an intervention that is currently being used to address your social issue. Elements for discussion include:
· A brief description of proposed intervention.
· Rationale for its application to your issue.
· Where/how the best practice method will be used.

Communication takes place when two or more people understand the words and gestures of each other. The Social Information Processing Theory, suggests that communication can be face-to-face or by online transmission (Walther, 2008). Regardless of the channel used to communicate information, it is passed on from one person or technological device to another. This week you will learn about technology in the human services field, where different methods of technology are used to enhance knowledge, through the Internet and social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Chat rooms and other types of communication processing.
Migone (2013) noted that information and communication technologies have established the way we see our world. Kimball and Kim (2013) noted that mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), computer hardware and software has incorporated technology. Blais, Craig, Pepler, and Connolly (2008) suggested that technology has opened our world to learning and entertainment. For example, to Netflix and movies on demand. I want to add that communication technology has opened our world to new and innovative telehealth medical treatment options that enhance patient care. Instead of calling the receptionist to get a doctor's appoint, you can log into the hospital's website to make appoints, as well as get lab results. With the growing use of technology, Dr. Watson’s core principles and practices of caring can provide a caring and healing atmosphere for patient improvement.
Technology in the human services field has changed considerably over the last 20 years. When I was a case manager, the computers were old and slow, and the client's information was completed using paper or sticky notes. However, in many instances, the paper was lost, or a diet coke was spilled on the paper. Later, we received updated computers, and all the client's information was entered into a system called running records. Running records was a significant change from the old paper system. Along, with new technology came ethical issues associated with privacy and confidentiality on the Internet, as well as secured emails and data protection. To keep data safe, in our department we have training each year on Internet safety, and how to protect and secure emails.
Did you know there is a different between the Internet and the World Wide Web?
The Internet is a network of computer devices, routers, and servers working across the world, and the World Wide Web is the software running on the Internet which has no physical existence (Fossbytes, 2017, February 8).
I have provided an article, “What’s the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web" at https://fossbytes.com/difference-between-the-internet-and-world-wide-web/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

Editors’ note: This chapter features two case studies on the role data plays in trans- forming a nonprofit organization.
DEVELOPING A DATA-DRIVEN CULTURE: A CASE STUDY
Twenty years ago, few human services organizations made use of much data other than budget information used to ensure that costs were being cov- ered. Today, the amount of data that is collected, organized, and analyzed by human services organizations can rival that collected by any commercial business in the private sector. Depending on an organization’s capacity to manage it, this torrent of data can be overwhelming or it can be leveraged to improve strategic and operational decision making. This chapter will evalu- ate key factors that have been instrumental in fostering a data-driven culture at Heartland Family Service.
Heartland Family Service is a nonprofit human services organization founded in 1875, serving the Omaha–Council Bluffs metro area and sur- rounding communities in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. To fulfill its mission to improve the lives of individuals and families in the community through education, counseling, and support, Heartland Family Service operates over 40 programs in eight service categories: addictions, child abuse, community services and centers, domestic violence, early child- hood development, juvenile delinquency, mental health, and poverty and homelessness. These services are provided in diverse settings, including office-based outpatient, in-home, residential, and community-based drop-in
