A myth is termed as a narrative that is symbolic and in most cases they are of unknown origin. The myths that are given relate to certain events that are real and especially the ones that are related to the existing religious beliefs. Myths represent themselves as factual account, authoritative, and the narrative that are given in these myths are mostly varied with the ordinary experiences that we face as well as the natural law. The truth that is presented by the myths is arguable and debatable. In fact, some of the people take myths as mere stories that do not have factual basis.
A good representation of myth that I have found is in relation to the findings of Galileo in 1610 after he used a telescope and found out that there were stars behind the stars. Through the observation, there was a composition of a myth that tried to explain the reasons as to why the sky at night was dark and thus basing his conclusion that the universe came along as a result of the big bang theory. The observation that was made was a form of a cosmic myth that has been formulated to formulate the existence of darkness at night and light at the day (Leeming, 2015).
The myth is appealing because it has tried to offer an explanation of a phenomenon that has existed in the past. In fact, the explanation is wanting because the light from the stars that are far away was not enough to illuminate the earth. The cosmic myth has also highlighted on the issue of the earth being born although it has not given a detailed account in regards to the way the earth came into being. The paradox of the myth was not solved even after the books of old astronomers were reviewed there was no big bang theory (Sproul, 2013).
